Reflection Post

Overall, I like how this class looked at how to assess the way individuals, organizations, students and teachers use technology. I like the LoTi test as well as the updated Blooms Taxonomy.

I like the the unit plan was organized in terms of timing and the process. I also think it would be interesting to learn more about sites where teachers can publish some of their work. But overall, resources like the Intel project and the like are a good way to get teachers started with looking at unit plans and technology.

Overall, I enjoyed this class.

Week 5 Unit Plan

By now, we have worked a lot on our unit plans, it is quite evident that a good plan has clear supporting materials available, is flexible for teachers to make changes for differing student populations as well as teaching time. Also, I wouldn't worry too much about standards, because most state standards encompass so many things. Overall, I'm interested in hearing about other unit plans, especially for different age levels. I also enjoyed my reading on the digital divide relating to Gender.

Week 4

What I liked the best about this week, is looking for the trends in electronics and internet usage. I am very interested to see what new Census data shows. It is significant to think about what trends and demographics of usage are in order to add to the accuracy of shaping the usage of technology in a school setting.

I also like the idea of having a survey for students, as well as staff. I also thought it was interesting to see student perspectives on the usage of technology in thier school settings.

Assessment

I think that with Project Based Learning, there are many forms of assessment that can be assessed. I personally think it is important to assess the process as well as the final product. I also really like the idea of students using reflection as a way to raise their own metacognition and provide a guide for students doing similar things in the future.

Week 2

I really liked reading the article on the revised and revisited Blooms Taxonomy. I think we need to consider how student created and centered projects foster higher level thinking skills, and bring a greater awareness to how to create such projects at that level.

Also, when it comes to levels of LoTi, I found myself thinking that some of the scenarios were in the middle of 2 described levels. I also like that we can take a quiz to assess usage, I think that is a great tool to show educators, and administrators to get them thinking about where their building is at.

Week 1

It was interesting to see different ways of assessing the various levels of technology implementation and usage. I think our group had differing opinions of how to address various levels in schools and to address LoTi issues and changes.

I think the largest challenge in getting educators to be more up to date with their usage and knowledge is that people don't like to change because it means more work, changing the way they teach.
